1) The US has been paying for Germany, France, etc to have generous welfare benefits and socialized medicine for years. This has to stop.
2) Yes trade between rival powers is a good thing, and in theory it prevents wars. Part deux – I will agree that the grassroots are really sick and tired of lying dogs who campaign on one thing and then vote another way.

Nick Freitas supporters are different from EW supporters who are different from Corey supporters. Each hangs in a slightly different crowd. EW supporters are more likely to emphasize social issues (aka gay marriage or abortion), where Nick supporters are more likely to have a slightly libertarian slant, and Corey supporters are a bit more likely to talk about history/heritage. I tend to side more with EW on issues than any of the other 2 candidates. However I did not think that EW ran a very good race in 2013, and given that Corey and I are personal friends, I supported him this time. Nick being my 2nd choice.

Not in this case – too long to explain – I don’t have the time or the will to explain – the short answer is that the Credentials Committee was not allowed to do their job. And quite a few people who had not registered to be delegates or certain persons who had been banned from party activities voted who should not have been allowed to vote.

To make a VERY long story VERY short – there was a problem with the filing form of the Rockbridge County GOP delegation. No big issue, the 6th District Secretary sent the form back, asked the Rockbridge GOP Chair and Committee to fix the issue, and the delegation would be certified. Well someone (no names mentioned) decided that meant that the Rockbridge GOP was going to be banned from the convention. Whitbeck got involved and decided he would determine who was allowed to be seated and who would not be. Basically putting his thumb on the scale.

The reference was more to the lead up to the 6th District Convention – where the rhetoric was getting extremely hostile – most everything went well at the convention – not alot of drama.

SBT – sometimes you really make sense. This is one of these times. I would suggest that there isn’t alot of difference between EW, Corey, and Freitas on most issues. Most of it is a matter of style or resume. Yes Nick is a bit more libertarian, EW emphasizes social issues, and Corey is best known for wrapping hisself in the Confederate Flag. I voted for Corey on Tuesday and am looking forward to getting him over the top in November. It’s going to be a rough road – but having Nick or EW as the nominee wouldn’t have made things any easier. The RPV needs serious structural reforms – all the way from the top down to the Unit and Precinct levels. And until local chairs and their committees and RPV are serious about getting Republican candidates elected to office, there isn’t much that any candidate can do.

My dear Rocinante – if you read the article – it never says they have left Virginia. It does say that they are considering moving all their operations to Pa. And that they do not want to leave Va, but that the regulations in Va are too stringent. Personally I see nothing wrong with that article.

Riggleman has never left his distillery. Now it’s possible he opened another one up in Pennsylvania. But he has not moved from Va. And quite often did fundraisers in 2017 for other candidates from his distillery.

Riggleman did not move to PA – he went back to Nelson/Giles County Va to work in his distillery. Now he may have taken a trip to PA – but for the most part he was at work in his distillery. He dropped out because he figured out (correctly mind you) that he could not raise money as Ed had raised millions, and Corey and Frank Wagner both had the ability to transfer money from previous campaign accounts to a Governor account. He did the right thing. Yes some fringe lunatics (true whack jobs) do like Riggleman – but so do quite a few normal persons.

Dunbar is not a whack. You can disagree with her, but she’s no whack. Matt Colt Hall or John Fredericks labeling someone as a whack does not make it so.

I have no idea if the 5th loves Whitbeck or not. But I can assure you, after putting multiple monkey wrenches in our 6th CD nomination process, he won hisself no fans here.

Honestly no one knew who was going to win. A week out I might have told you that Dunbar could have won.

Well – that’s what happened and that’s what will occur. Alot of good people are going to be sorry one day soon.

I was 100% certain that Kurtz would win – and was hoping that Sayre would win. Figured Cline would win – but not on the 1st ballot.

He didn’t just fight the Incumbent Protection Act – we in CD 6 killed the IPA. And now we’re all afraid that the new administration will let the lawsuit/appeal expire and the IPA will remain.

There was some major league drama on social media and my email inbox was beyond surreal. However with very few exceptions, the convention was drama free. Now a couple people did act like major league jerkoffs – but they were the exception rather than the rule. They’re still doing this on social media.

Justo never had a chance and if the convention had gone into the 2nd round of balloting, he would have been one of the first cut. Regarding Sayre, he wished Jennifer Brown well, and has gone onto better things. Sayre served his party well, and is owed a debt of gratitude that many do not really understand and will not understand for years to come.

Sorry but the convention was drama free. Everything went off without a hitch. There has been some drama from a few FB warriors afterwards – but everyone will get over their hurt feelings in due time. Some of the supporters of the winning side would be better served by keeping their big mouths shut however.

With Ben Cline as the nominee – the odds of Ms. Moore winning are slim to none. If the nominee had been Cynthia Dunbar, I still think she would have won, but the margin would have been a bit more narrow. Of the 8 candidates who filed, 7 of them would likely have beaten Ms. Moore.

The vote was “weighted”. But pretty much everyone who was there could see that Cline had the overwhelming majority of the delegates.

The convention went off without a hitch, and a winner was decided on the 1st ballot. The 2nd place finisher (Dunbar) endorsed the winner (Ben Cline). All was well and will be well in the Valley.

Delegate Cline has been a real hero on this subject, he’s trying to protect the good people of Virginia, and our Governor stabs the people of Virginia in the back.

Would have loved to have met you as well. Saw a few of my friends there from Shenandoah County/Strasburg and kinda hung with them. Walked around a bit looking for Jeanine Martin, Jay Marts, and a few others. Did get to see Suzanne Volpe, Roger Zurn, and that hillbilly Geary Higgins.

For personal reasons I had to leave earlier than planned.

At the end of the day, who you vote for is who you vote for. My thought is to vote for the best person, including those who can inspire people to come out and vote. We keep trying to be strategic and we keep losing. I was a never Trumper until he got the nomination, but then learned why he became the nominee. So many just loved him. Personally I thought he’d be a horrible nominee, and that he stood the best chance to lose in November, but again what do I know. I’m glad to be wrong.

The real issue with Republicans in Virginia is RPV and the local committees themselves. Take Vermont for example. HRC wins in November 2016 by 30 points, but a Republican nominee wins the governor’s race that day – by 8-9 points. So it’s not the state itself. RPV is doing something horribly wrong, and a large part of that is the data is not getting to the local committees because RPV and the establishment want the data to remain in their hands only. Aka local committee’s are dependent on RPV instead of themselves. It hampers us.

And until RPV accepts these facts and others and reforms itself from within, we won’t win another election statewide.

I’m a former Never Trumper – meaning that during the 2016 primary season, I was not going to support Trump no matter what. I came on board later on – once he selected Mike Pence – which showed me that Trump was serious about conservative governance. So I get the concern about Trump. However now that he’s president and is carrying out a conservative agenda, and an agenda that many of these NEVER TRUMPERS really should agree with, how they can still oppose him means only one thing. The Bill Kristol’s of the world don’t care about the GOP or conservative polices – they only care about their butt hurt ego’s and getting their ugly mugs on camera.

My dear Craig, a few thoughts if I may.

First off, I appreciate that you’re supporting Ben Cline. He’s an outstanding man with great conservative credentials. However if I were on Team Cline (and again let me say for the record that I’m neutral in this race for 2 or 3 various reasons), I’d not be spending hours upon hours upon hours worrying about the convention rules. I’d be out there rounding up delegates and talking about my own conservative credentials. Not carping about process.

Second, yes I was at the 2013 convention, and sat through the entire fiasco. I also sat through the 2016 state convention in Harrisonburg last year, which was almost as big a clown car show as 2013. I tend to support conventions, but since RPV can’t seem perform the “better mechanics” that you yourself called for…………..

Third, my 21 year old and 19 year old go to Liberty. It’s unfortunate they can’t be delegates at the upcoming convention because they’ll be at the graduation ceremonies. But they don’t feel as they’re being picked on or discriminated against. Now if you or one of your friends feels as though they’re being discriminated against because they can’t go to the convention – not sure what to tell you.

Thanks you’re very kind. Given that I’m not a white guy (caucasian but not white), I feel your pain in a way that few can understand. The GOP has a very poor history of reaching out to any non white male. And they really don’t understand the issue. Party representatives will show up at a function which would have quite a few Latino’s or African Americans, and they’ll talk and then leave and never make another attempt to contact these people. Allen West and Sean Hannity sparred about this issue on his radio show a few years back. West tried to tell Hannity that the GOP needs to show up. Hannity said back we do. West says yes you may show up occasionally, but the GOP will then forget about black people for awhile until the next big event, and wonder why African Americans won’t vote Republican.

They went back and forth a few times. And until someone high up in the GOP gets it, and really goes out of their way to court non whites – this will be a continuing issue for the GOP and conservatism.

This article was not a shot at Ben Cline who is a personal friend of mine and someone who I admire greatly. It was to try and explain just how the 6th District did not commit some cardinal sin.

If I were Mr. Cline or Mrs. Dunbar, I’d worry about Chaz Haywood – he’s putting together quite a nice GOTV operation in Shenandoah, Page, and Rockingham counties. Now that’s only 3 of the 17 localities of CD 6, but it’s one heck of a start. FYI, I’m not supporting Chaz Haywood either.

Someone I know well asked me why Flake and others in DC hate Trump, and I had to explain to this person that 92% of GOP voters voted for Trump in 2016. Now some of them voted for Trump while holding their nose. But they still voted. Flake and many inside DC don’t get one simple fact. The overwhelming majority of Republicans, be they conservatives, Tea Party types (such as myself), moderates, libertarians, support Trump. They may get offended by a few of his Twitter comments, but otherwise they will vote for Trump again in 2020. Flake has spent so long inside the Beltway that he likely can not comprehend this fact. Same with so many others in the GOP who can’t stand Trump. Now I can understand not liking Trump – but a few (Flake, McCain for example) have taken it too far.

And as much as I hate to say this, Lindsay Graham has been pretty mature when it comes to his feelings on Trump. Graham has been trying to work with the Trump administration where he can, and opposing Trump or trying to cut a deal where he can not. No I’m not saying that we should support Graham, because he needs to go as well. But let’s give credit where credit is due.

Not being a “white guy” myself, let me explain what “average American” means. Male or female, age or race not important. Loves their country, works hard to pay their bills. Average American may be a Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative. Goes to some type of Christian church, does a bit of volunteer work in their community, either for their church or for some charitable organization. Makes somewhere between 40-125,000 per year. Loves their family and uses sports as their escape for a few hours per week. They may or may not actually agree with the NFL players who are protesting about injustices, but do not think that protesting during the Star Spangled Banner is a good way to protest.

Note that the author used a comparison between Amy Grant, who was a famous Christian musician who went into pop music for awhile and had some family issues and then mostly returned to Christian contemporary music and Rick Warren, who used to preach a good sermon and then seems to have gone off the reservation into lala land. Mine was a valid question.

Great point, and as the head of the Tea Party in Shenandoah County (also a GOP District Chair), I can explain it to you quite easily. We’ve been too nice to the Establishment for far too long, and they are quite frankly at times hateful and despicable human beings.

In Shenandoah County, the GOP treats the party not as a political party to get candidates elected, but as a social club where they can hang out and waste time. So when activists like myself and my friends want to do things to increase our voter turnout, we are thwarted in every direction. For example, we want to use a voter app. But the local committee has been trying to stop that for months now – and so far doing one heck of a good job. They do so – and in doing so hurt their own members – but they’re so hate filled they could care less.

For all of our talk about how nasty some liberals can be (and I’ll grant you they’re nasty at times) the nastier people by far are quite often “establishment Republicans” towards the conservative base. I’d rather deal with a liberal Democrat than a true establishment Republican any day of the week. Some of the things they say to me way beyond cross the line. (aka one establishment Republican saying to me that all gun owners should be taken out and shot – another said publicly about the previous head of the local Tea Party – they “were glad this person dropped dead and hoped they burn in hell”.

These are hateful people. And they need to be suppressed.

Well sadly for you, you’ll need Ed supporters when Corey runs again in 2018. So you might want to rethink burning all your bridges and your rather inane rhetoric – as it will come back to bite you in the 000 sooner than you think.

Our main concern needs to be getting our own base to turn out in November. Dem turnout in Strasburg, where I live, was much higher than imagined. I was telling Team Gillespie that it would be in excess of 100 voters (maybe 150 tops). But they had about 224 voters, we had 275. If we don’t step our efforts up, then we have Governor Northam and $15 per hour minimum wages and the beginning of the end of the right to work state. This is serious.

For a comparison, in 2013, when the Dems had a Lt. Governor primary and Delegate Todd Gilbert was being primaried by a lunatic – Strasburg had about 226 voters in the GOP primary, and the Democratic Lt. Governor primary had 44 voters.

This must not occur in November or else we’re screwed. Strasburg is just one Magisterial District, but it’s indicative of what occurred statewide on Tuesday.

Corey’s concession speech on Facebook Live was spot on 100%. He admits that Ed won, that he has no regrets, that he fought the good fight, but that Ed won and he will vote for the ticket in November. He also said that Ed must be committed to fighting to ban sanctuary cities (Ed has already campaigned against the concept of sanctuary cities) and to make sure that our heritage remains intact (15-2.1812 of the VA code ensures this already and Ed won’t get rid of the law and no Republican would dare propose getting rid of the law) so all will be fine come November, other than a few spoiled sports who wouldn’t be happy if Christ Hisself was the nominee.

And mine wasn’t a “hit piece”. Mine was an explanation on what Ed’s position was. Oh and for the record. VA Code Section 15.2-1812 specifically prohibits the removal of any war memorial statue from the French and Indian War through Iraqi Freedom.

And the law specifically says and I quote: ” A locality may, within the geographical limits of the locality, authorize and permit the erection of monuments or memorials for any war or conflict, or for any engagement of such war or conflict, to include the following monuments or memorials: Algonquin (1622), French and Indian (1754-1763), Revolutionary (1775-1783), War of 1812 (1812-1815), Mexican (1846-1848), Confederate or Union monuments or memorials of the War Between the States (1861-1865), Spanish-American (1898), World War I (1917-1918), World War II (1941-1945), Korean (1950-1953), Vietnam (1965-1973), Operation Desert Shield-Desert Storm (1990-1991), Global War on Terrorism (2000- ), Operation Enduring Freedom (2001- ), and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003- ).

If such are erected, it shall be unlawful for the authorities of the locality, or any other person or persons, to disturb or interfere with any monuments or memorials so erected, or to prevent its citizens from taking proper measures and exercising proper means for the protection, preservation and care of same”.

So quite honestly, first off, you do not know the law. Secondly – if you think anyone who supports someone else other than who you support is “against you” then you are not part of the solution, or part of taking back Virginia. You are part of the problem.

Odd, I remember writing one article on here explaining Ed’s position on the Confederate monuments, but don’t remember trashing Corey or his supporters. I do have issues with a few of them, but as I said above, if 98-99% of a group of people are good people, then I prefer to not let the 1-2% affect my thoughts.

Now I do find myself increasingly at odds with people who are Corey supporters who call me an “establishment hack”, or people like some who post on here alot who would trash Ed Gillespie if he found a cure for cancer. But again they are the exception and not the rule.

Jeanine Martin is good people who supports conservative causes and conservative candidates. I don’t see her as being an unfair person. You can disagree with who she supports – but saying this blog is unfair – well that’s plain wrong.

Emotions are raw right now. Corey came close – and his supporters did their best. I honor them and appreciate their hard work on behalf of Corey. Not to mention that of the 5 governor candidates running, Corey is the only one who has actually presided over a white washing of history, proud that Mills Godwin school in PW changed it’s name because Godwin may have supported segregation previously.

95% of them will end up supporting whoever the nominee is. If for example, Corey wins tomorrow, for all the talk from Gillespie supporters about hating on Corey, they’ll all get over it after a matter of days or maybe a couple weeks. Only people who won’t get over it are those whose head is so far up their own (__|__) that they’d really prefer a Democrat gets elected. And quite frankly, those people usually cause more trouble than they’re worth.

Those who voted for McMullin will likely be supporting Ed. I can name you a few Never Trumpers who voted for Johnson, who will be supporting Ed. Mostly establishment Republicans.

The arrogance of the so called “sensible center” or moderates – and how insulting they can be is beyond ridiculous. One of them had the absolute gall to say to me on multiple occasions that “all the soldiers who were shot in Iraq deserved it”. . We all endorse and or support people whose values don’t line up 100% with ours, but we support them anyway for personal reasons. Sometimes it’s out of friendship with that person or a family member of the candidate, sometimes it’s because we’ve worked with them or for them. Sometimes it’s a visceral reaction. Other times it’s because we can’t stand the other candidates in a race.

In 2013, I supported and campaigned hard for Jeanne Marie Devolites Davis for Lt. Governor. She was no where near the most conservative candidate in the race. To the contrary she was probably the least conservative. But I have known her for years and always respected and admired her, and am a personal fan of Tom Davis. I’d make that choice again if given the opportunity to do so. For either Jeanne Marie or for Tom Davis. Doesn’t mean I agree

If you feel for certain reasons that Glenn Davis is the right choice for you, then by all means support that person. That doesn’t make you a RINO – just means you support Glenn Davis. I can disagree with you, and that’s my right.

Problem is that the so called moderates expect us to suck up to them when they wun, but when we win, they grab their toys and run.

This is a horrible idea. Strasburg received a several hundred thousand dollar grant from the feds, and they’re spending it on a park which no one will use, and in doing so, have purchased properties which now they can not use – literally a waste of the entire funding. Best part is, if any damage is done to the last building purchased by the Town, the Town owes the federal government all the money back.

Wrong. American kids now expect unreasonable salaries. At Rite Aid in Ocean City, they offer $12.50 to the immigrants and find places for them to stay at low cost. How is that unreasonable?

The writer understands something about the H-B visas that many Americans forget. When I graduated HS back in the early 1980’s, we kids saw it as a right of passage to get a job in Ocean City for the summer, put aside a few bucks, and get some experience. HS graduates nowadays or college students are either still living off of Mumsie and Daddy, or are too lazy, or think they’re too important to take a minimum wage job.

My HS classmates bragged about working at Ocean City for the summer. The coolest students of my HS class all got jobs at Ocean City or Rehoboth. Now I’ll see Northern Virginia HS graduates and ask them about their plans for the summer – and they’ll talk about going to the beach or hanging out. Ask them about summer jobs though and too many will say “got better things to do”.

Until American families and the like get their heads screwed on straight and stop supporting their children through their mid 20’s and later, we’ll need foreign workers to come into this country to do the jobs that, sadly, today’s American youth are too lazy or too privileged to do.

For various reasons, Lieberman was not a good choice to lead the FBI. Glad he did the right thing and bowed out.

1) I’ve known Ed since 2013, and at every event Ed I’ve ever seen him at, or watching Ed Gillespie interact with voters – which is nearly 100 – people are always impressed with how he answers their questions.

2) Pretty much everyone who has interacted with Ed more than once has been impressed with his memory and his ability to remember names and faces and where they 1st met.

3) Ed has been out there this year talking to voters in every Congressional District, and in pretty much everyone of the 138 localities in Virginia. Everything from McLean Day – to a motorcycle event in Shenandoah County where we walked around and was asked questions about laws pertaining to motorcycle helmets and to motorcyclists being ticketed for being stopped 2 abreast at a stop light and how to best handle that issue.

He’s been meeting with voters regarding his tax policy, voters in the 9th Congressional District regarding coal, voters in Hampton Roads and Chesapeake and Newport News regarding the need to protect our ports, meeting with voters in NoVa regarding transportation needs.

Now I know a few people who won’t vote for him in the primary, but everyone says Ed is a gentleman who listened to them and answered their questions.

Can’t see Wagner getting the nomination, saying you need to raise gas taxes when families are already strapped financially, for roads which will never be built or widened (see Rt. 15 in Loudoun) is a loser. Riggleman always was a serious contender. He just got in to the race too late. But Riggleman’s ideas and his ability to inspire passion in people will live on. I for one am looking forward to supporting him at sometime in the near future.

Riggleman was a fascinating man and it is too bad that he left the race. (I say this as a Gillespie supporter) Riggleman brought in a fascinating air of freshness and his candor, charm, and wit will be sorely missed. If more politicians were like Denver Riggleman, we’d have more people interested in our political system.

We can only hope that Mr. Riggleman will remain engaged and will one day run for something – having learned some valuable lessons about campaigning, and come back with lessons learned and continue the #WhiskeyRebellion.

Sad about Chuck Smith. Seemed like a good guy. However it was quite obvious that he was having issues putting a campaign staff together. Chuck had a great stump speech and a heck of a personal story to tell. But he seemed uninterested in the mechanics of a statewide campaign. And the fact that Chuck never seemed interested in getting ballot petitions signed until it was too late was his ultimate downfall. Well that and the fact he would not make fundraising calls.

Sad how people who support Trump can get attacked. Strasburg had our Christmas parade in early December, and I was handing out Ed Gillespie for Governor candy to kids while carrying a Trump banner – and some parents who voted for Madame Hilary just went nutso on us.

Had great fun with one of them. She refused to let any of her kids “have any of that Trump candy” so I asked her if she was the type of person who gave out potatoes on Halloween. That didn’t go over very well.

Rocinante- to make a very long story very short – Jay Marts, and about 9 others (Myself included) supported Delegate Mark Berg. (I live in Shenandoah County FYI) Mark Berg for a long list of reasons, lost his primary to Chris Collins.

Jay Marts and several others continued (WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF MARK BERG MIND YOU) a write in campaign for then Delegate Berg in the general election of 2015. The 10th District Congressional Committee expelled Marts, and several others (INCLUDING MARK BERG) for violating Party rules regarding supporting non Republican candidates in the general election. Again remember that Berg did not support the write in campaign.

Marts, Berg, et al appealed the decision to SCC – SCC ruled in their favor – and then the Berg faction of the GOP won the Frederick County GOP convention, making Mark Berg chair of the County GOP.

Then elements of the 10th Congressional Committee appealed the decision to RPV, and RPV supported the 10th Congressional District’s original ruling – something which seldom happens, as usually when SCC makes a ruling, it’s final.

I’ll grant you that Jay Marts and a few others did violate the party rule. (remember Jay is a personal friend of mine and we go to church together) But once SCC ruled, the 10th Congressional District should have left it alone, and certainly should not have disbanded the duly elected leadership of the Frederick County GOP. If the SCC had ruled in favor of the 10th District, then I would have counseled Marts et al to let it go as well.

That severely hurt GOTV operations – and really embarrassed the local Party for years to come. Hope that helps.

This is a very condensed version.

The whole thing is a really tough issue. But for me, once the SCC reinstated Mark Berg and Marts et al, that should have been the end of it. But NOOOOOOOO – the 10th Congressional District Committee couldn’t leave well enough alone, and stuck their finger in the eyes of pretty much everyone, and got the RPV to declare the Frederick GOP Convention which elected Mark Berg being null and void.

That was ridiculous – like it or not, SCC decided and that should have been the end of discussion. (NOTE – Jay Marts is a personal friend and we attend church together). But even if the SCC had gone the other way against Jay and Berg and everyone else, I would have counseled the group to let it go and accept the SCC ruling.

State Central adjudicated this issue of n favor of Jay Marts et al. Why the 10th CD kept this in the headlines and put the state party in such a ridiculous position is beyond me.

Obama Care has to go. No ifs no ands no buts. Obama Care must be sent to the dung heap of history where it belongs.

The fact of the matter is, that Corey Stewart, being the Chair of the BoS of Prince William County, knows each person at that event better than anyone else running for statewide office (Bryce Reeves being a distant 2nd). Corey should have won that event hands down.

You can try and spin this any way you want, but the fact is that Corey took a minor but significant beating at the event. Will this cost Corey the nomination? Of course not. Corey can still win the nomination. But to try and say this is anything but an embarrassment is sticking your head in the sand ostrich style.

The writer is onto a few things here. (FYI – for disclosure reasons – I’m a regional field director for the Gillespie campaign). Corey Stewart is not Crazy – he is a perfectly qualified individual to run for Governor of our Commonwealth. Ed is not a RINO nor is he Mr. Establishment (sorry Wave).

And yes every County Committee Chair needs to be involved in their community outside of the political realm. We are at our best when we show why the Free Market system is the most efficient way to raise a poor person out of poverty. And when we show that individual compassion from a church or a group like the Kiwanis Club is the best means to feed the poor, not from a bloated bureaucracy.

The GOP in Virginia has a couple of different problems.

1st is that we don’t have great voter lists at the local and precinct levels. Fortunately great Americans like Scott Sayre, Matt Tederick, Anne Fitzgerald, AL Tucker, and many other Patriots in the 6th Congressional District GOP are trying to alleviate this problem.

2nd and more concerning are the paid trolls who refuse to coalesce around the nominee who was legitimately selected by the voters. These people, and you have them in both the Tea Party and in the Establishment wings, are not as principled as they want everyone to think, but in actuality are little better than hacks who would allow liberals to win just to spite everyone else.

Seems to me and most of us that Trump is trying to fulfill his campaign promises. Give the man a break sheesh.

Did I call Rep. Brat the Messiah? I just said that he’s one of the good guys and if you’re on here trashing him for not being conservative enough, then there’s something wrong somewhere and it’s not with Rep. Brat.

Northam is no guarantee to win this nomination. He’s going head on with a rather well spoken man in Perrello who has an outside chance to get the nomination.

TBE has often published CNP results. Did so several times last year, both with the Governor’s race and race for POTUS.

Quinnipiac is not the most accurate polling organization in the USA – so I’d take this poll with several pounds of salt. Christopher Newport Polling is a much more reputable organization which knows Va quite well CNP saw that Trump was closing on Hilary in Va and reported it as such, something which most other polling firms missed in 2016.

TBE is NOT supposed to be the voice of balance and clarity. TBE is for partisan conservatives and libertarians to learn news in the Commonwealth which we’d not get from any other source.

TBE is a much better source of Virginia political information than say – Bearing Drift. When the Bearing Drift calls Dave Brat the most useless Congressman in Va (forgetting Beyer and Gerry Connolly) – how they call themselves a conservative news source is beyond me.

Again I don’t always agree with TBE – but even when I don’t agree, I find the writers have a reasoned thought process behind what they say.

Any man who was in good standing with Dick Armey, who wrote the Contract with America, and who gave us the first real “Repeal and Replace” legislation for Obama Care is not a “moderate Republican”. Ed is the real deal who will get things done as our governor. Now if you want someone who froths at the mouth, Ed is not that guy. Ed is always polite and genteel, but being polite does not mean that Ed lacks backbone or has no principles. Ed is the most principled candidate out there.

Example at a local GOP committee meeting. We do 2 resolutions. One is voted on unanimously. Other approved with one dissenting vote. The establishment people just went nuts and started screaming at my friend for voting against the resolution. And then started screaming and yelling at me for sitting next to her. And I voted for their resolution. They’re acting like infants. And getting worse.

Regarding the need for civility, can’t agree with you more. But the GOP ruling cabal really should be ashamed of themselves. I can’t overemphasize how rude so many of them have been rude to me personally and then will call me nasty. I’m talking about slurs and such. So yes we can do better. But at least we try to be civil. Same can not be said for the ruling class.

The writer makes a bit of sense – but is missing one fundamental point. The fact is that the party is fracturing apart not because of conservatives, but because of the Lindsay Graham, John McCain crowd. All Americans are pissed off and with good reason. They feel their elected leaders won’t listen to them anymore and want someone to listen to them. Which is why Trump resonates so well when he says “I AM YOUR VOICE”.

I voted for Cruz in the primary, but will be the 1st person to admit that Cruz is not a team player and sometimes you need to punt. But it’s hard to work with a group like McCain/Boehner/Graham when they insult you the moment you disagree with them (John Boehner calling Cruz Satan, McCain calling Rand Paul and Cruz “wacko birds”, etc etc).

I’ll grant you that calling anyone who disagrees with others on an issue or two a RINO or “Establishment” isn’t productive and is starting to get old. But the problem is not us, the problem is the more supposedly “moderate” crowd who are really more hateful than us Tea Party supporters could ever hope to be.

He’ll have 0 choice but to do the wall. And Obama Care is dying a horrible painful death. The next President, be it Hilary, Gary Johnson, or Trump, will have to deal with that fact.

Obama Care is all but dead. The next President will have to deal with that 1st off. Even though Trump has in the past said he supports a single payer system, that will not happen with Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in the US Senate. Assuming Trump wins in November (no sure thing), a massive deal will be made, and we won’t like parts of this deal. But Obama Care will be dead.

I tend to trust him on the judges – not sure why though.

He will have little choice but to build the wall with Mexico. If Trump renegs on this, Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham will make his life a living hell.

What concerns us Tea party supporters is everything else. My thoughts is the US Government’s job is to patrol the borders, have a strong military, and not much else. Not sure Trump will abide by any of that. Other than the wall.

I’m no Trump fan, but Trump is the nominee, and he does have the potential to change the change the electorate. It’s interesting though, how so many hated Romney because he wasn’t “ideologically pure”, yet they’re more than fine with Trump who supported a single payer health care system.

I am voting for Trump, but we must teach everyone that Government is the problem, and not the solution to the problem. Trump needs to do these things:

1) Nominate conservative judges to all levels of the federal court system
2) Build the wall with Mexico
3) Kill off the EPA
4) Kill off Obama Care – and replace it with a more market based system. This will be tough as Democrats in the Senate will demand alot, and here we may have to yield a bit on things.

If Trump can do all these things, he will go down in history as a great President.

Unfortunately you forgot to discuss what occurred in the 6th District. The former 6th Congressional District Chair, Wendall Walker was running for Presidential elector, national delegate, and State Central. Walker lost all 3 races. Conservative candidates Anne Fitzgerald won for elector. The conservative ticket of Doc Troxel, Joe Sonsmith, and Nate Boyer won State Central, and most of Goodlatte’s ticket for national delegate lost. Cruz supporters like Suzanne Curran won the national convention delegate seats.

Something is amiss in the 6th. Bull Elephant might want to watch the events unfold here in the weeks to come.

And with McAuliffe reigning over a period of 0 growth, how can anyone like him in Va?

No. I’m stating that your above comment about gas being $4.00 in 2008 was because of Democratic stall tactics for years. Once GW could get allow for some drilling in ANWR, the price of gas went down immediately.

Once Obama closed off ANWR exploration, then the price of gas went back up (remember that gasoline is traded on the open market same as stocks are). Once we started fracking, the price of gas has plummeted.

That was what I was stating. How you got that I said the Bush 43 administration was a success out of that, is beyond me.

Actually if you remember correctly, the price of gasoline went down immediately after GW issued an executive order which allowed for the exploration of oil in ANWR. Nice try though.

Sorry Brian, but the issue here is all about who said these words. If this was anyone else aka Tom Davis or EW Jackson both of whom are on the far ends of the ideological spectrum, that would be another thing. But this is coming from a man (Bolling) who went out of his way to torpedo his rival because he didn’t get a nomination he felt entitled to.

Congressman Davis and I are very good friends (I used to work for him for the record), even though he and I are on the opposite ends of the Republican spectrum when it comes to policy. And I take Mr. Davis at his word as a legitimate broker. But not Bolling.

Shaun – I would agree with you 100%. Bolling is under no legal or moral obligation to endorse someone. No one is arguing that point. But it’s beyond hypocritical for Bolling to refuse to endorse an opponent that Bolling refused to take on in a nomination contest, then go out and criticize our wing of the party, and then come back and say that we need to heal as a party. if Bolling wants us to heal, the 1st thing he should do is apologize to Cuccinelli for helping give McAwful the governor’s race.

Sorry but when the Lt. Governor refuses to endorse the nominee of his party because Bolling thought something was “owed to him”, he’s the most public and major part of the problem.

Lt. Governor Bolling and his snit when he didn’t get the nomination shows that he us part of the problem. You can’t call for harmony when you’re the major reason for the division.

You Mr. Matt Colt Hall who says the problem with the GOP is the fact we have conservatives in the party. Try getting rid of us, and see how many elections the GOP will win. You don’t build a party by tossing people. Something you need to get through your skull.

Gillespie won the convention by a 65 to 35 margin. Not really sure that’s a near loss. Hill lost because he lacked organization. Not because of Paul Ryan.
