What’s his role in the Trump Administration again? Does he even have a job?

2018-06-01 12:43:00 Rick Shaftan

The sad legacy of #EunuchEd. So glad I moved to NC instead of VA.

2018-05-31 10:12:00 Rick Shaftan

Get out of the 2000s and get off defense. It’s a new world out there. Get with the program.

2018-05-18 22:06:00 Rick Shaftan

Those who can’t do, teach. And those that know nothing about the subject, do studies and claim they are experts. What campaign has this guy ever won?

2018-05-18 22:04:00 Rick Shaftan

This is really weak. It also illustrates what kind of babbling nonsense comes out of the mouths of emotional wrecks who hate so much they cannot see the world clearly. What makes this clown an expert on winning elections?

2018-04-07 13:13:00 Rick Shaftan

So weak.

2018-02-22 13:58:00 Rick Shaftan

None of you understand why Ed barely won the primary and why he’s going to get crushed in November.

2017-07-10 18:21:00 Rick Shaftan

You need to change the US Constitution first.

2017-06-27 10:38:00 Rick Shaftan

Someone needs to take on this liberal fraud in the GOP Primary.

2017-06-27 10:37:00 Rick Shaftan

No one will challenge Corey for the nod if he decides to run, especially an unknown who will not raise money. Corey has thousands of donors and universal and very positive name ID.

2017-06-24 10:03:00 Rick Shaftan

He does endorse late-term abortions if the woman says she was raped eight months ago, correct?

2017-01-28 00:47:00 Rick Shaftan

You should run for office on a platform of replacing the income tax with a higher sales tax and see what people think of that idea.

2016-12-12 14:58:00 Rick Shaftan

He did not. Luntz wrote that meaningless document, which was of no value to me in my 1994 House races.

2016-12-10 13:22:00 Rick Shaftan

Please. Has he ever attended even one TP event?

2016-12-10 13:20:00 Rick Shaftan

The cabinet speaks for itself. Better than what we’d have seen from my guy Cruz in fact.

2016-12-10 13:20:00 Rick Shaftan

Ed did not write the Contract with America, none of which ever passed anyway. I’ve known Ed for 30 years. He’s one of those “I am as conservative as you but…” types. To call him a “warrior” is comical. Nice guy perhaps but no warrior.

2016-12-10 13:19:00 Rick Shaftan

Is he still pro-abortion?

2016-10-27 14:50:00 Rick Shaftan

Because you are an amateur and believe what you see your Facebook friends say. On November 8th at around 10 pm, reality will set in. I hope you handle it ok.

2016-10-18 05:11:00 Rick Shaftan

So it should be easy to crossmatch and indict. Tell me how many Floridians voted twice in the same election year? You must have that number.

2016-09-02 16:13:00 Rick Shaftan

Keep digging.

2016-08-04 01:27:00 Rick Shaftan

You missed the part where he talked about how bad the economy was in the nation’s wealthiest county.

2016-08-04 01:24:00 Rick Shaftan

Virginia Republicans are lucky to have someone like Stewart running for Governor who not only says what we all know is true, but doesn’t back down when smarmy liberals and enablers like the Bearing Drift crowd start whining.

You can say what you want, but when all the dust clears from this, Stewart will be far and away the frontrunner for 2017 whether the process is a convention or primary.

2016-07-09 04:08:00 Rick Shaftan

He’s not the nominee until the delegates say so. Meanwhile, your guy is going to take our party down to defeat and cost us the House and Senate. Thanks for banging the final nail in America’s coffin.

2016-06-29 16:31:00 Rick Shaftan

The time to start for 2018 is now. She gets more liberal by the day. And anyone who thinks her liberal votes in Congress gets her Democrats in November is delusional.

2016-06-03 11:27:00 Rick Shaftan

Thank the “Republicans” in the VA GA who refused to use their majorities to draw their own lines.

2016-06-03 11:25:00 Rick Shaftan

I’m for Garrett, but to be fair one of those is a car loan and he’s got two credit cards with balances. But the rest of the analysis is correct, although irrelevant to 99.9% of voters.

2016-05-09 23:31:00 Rick Shaftan

One thing he didn’t say was that he is conservative or wants to undo anything Obama has done.

2016-01-17 00:42:00 Rick Shaftan

I don’t see how the pathetic DC GOP “leadership” is Whitbeck’s fault.

2016-01-16 19:14:00 Rick Shaftan

The only problem with the old map was that there were too many Democrats in the Rigell, Forbes and Comstock seats.

2016-01-08 13:19:00 Rick Shaftan

I’m curious what the Obama 2012 share of the two-party vote is in the new districts. VA-1 was 46.2%, VA-3 was 79.8%, VA-4 was 49.3%, VA-7 was 42.3%. The one district that should have gotten more Democrats was the overloaded 7th, and it would have if the “Republican” legislative leaders had bothered to put their own map together. If Forbes isn’t back next year, that’s who he can thank.

2016-01-07 22:54:00 Rick Shaftan

There is no way on earth that in 2016 Brat loses a primary to someone who supports the Paul Ryan agenda of caving to Barack Obama. Whatever method is chosen, Brat will win.

2016-01-07 20:15:00 Rick Shaftan

Ryan supported TARP and the Auto Bailout.

2015-12-09 15:24:00 Rick Shaftan

You forgot the former Governor.

2015-11-18 16:38:00 Rick Shaftan

You cannot read this objectively and disagree with John’s analysis and conclusions.

2015-11-11 20:50:00 Rick Shaftan

Southside definitely has an accent unique to anywhere else. Syrupy is the word I heard once to describe it.

2015-11-08 21:13:00 Rick Shaftan

Bush isn’t selling, and the RINO crowd is going to go to Christie for a while but more will go to Rubio.

2015-09-17 16:12:00 Rick Shaftan

Why would anyone want a flawed candidate to drop out and be replaced by a non-flawed candidate? And why would any conservative care whether Wagner wins or loses anyway?

2015-09-16 10:59:00 Rick Shaftan

This is a waste of time, as this suggestion has been for the last 50 years. Republicans should focus on people with a history of voting for Republicans, not those who never do. This bad “advice” is responsible for more GOP losses than anything else. But guilty white people keep doing it because feeling good is more important than winning.

2015-09-14 12:53:00 Rick Shaftan

Problem is, Virginia Republican Legislative “leaders” are too “nice” to fight back.

2015-08-18 18:50:00 Rick Shaftan

If this is true, which is questionable, it means the GOP will win like 25 seats this fall.

2015-08-10 09:51:00 Rick Shaftan

What you are really also saying is that you support tearing down the same Confederate monuments in Court House Squares, renaming schools, roads, towns and counties, and digging up graves as is being done in Memphis. The people you are siding with will not be happy until the Rainbow Flag flies on every government building.

2015-07-08 18:49:00 Rick Shaftan

This is great news. Now Democrats have managed to give Republicans a campaign issue since the Howell 2013 Tax Hike took one away from them.

2015-04-16 05:14:00 Rick Shaftan

I don’t know the man or his politics but if he has cleaned up his life he should be encouraged, not scorned. Who among us is perfect? How come none of these perfect people are running for office?

2015-03-14 12:16:00 Rick Shaftan

You need to run for something serious.

2015-02-12 12:21:00 Rick Shaftan

Great material. Well researched.

2015-02-04 18:11:00 Rick Shaftan

Let’s focus on something real, like electing a President in 2016 who will provide the leadership needed to make these people do the right thing.

2015-02-01 23:28:00 Rick Shaftan

Like most Democrats running this year, he believes there is no more important issue facing women than having an abortion.

2014-09-24 18:14:00 Rick Shaftan

I’m sorry he let these people win. The left doesn’t do this to their people. But Republicans panic anytime some left-wing jerk screams “racism!!” This is why we lose. Sorry if you disagree.

2014-08-07 02:51:00 Rick Shaftan

This is the thanks Pat gets for endorsing the Ray Allen candidate in VA-10.

2014-07-02 12:38:00 Rick Shaftan

Here’s some nuggets from Forrest County: Lillie Burney precinct (99.2% for Obama) voted 6-0 for Cochran in the Primary and 52-2 in the Runoff. Burger Center precinct (99.6% for Obama) voted 6-0 for Cochran in the Primary and 62-1 in the Runoff. Rowan precinct (99.7% for Obama) voted 16-0 for Cochran in the Primary and 90-5 in the runoff. Total for the three precincts: 28-0 in the Primary, 204-8 in the Runoff. That’s a 657% turnout increase. The Cochran GOTV strategy was not limited to the Delta.

2014-06-25 16:58:00 Rick Shaftan

Our side needs to use the same tactics against the enemy.

2014-06-24 21:10:00 Rick Shaftan

Of the 58 precincts Obama carried, he won less than 55% in 30, between 55 and 60% in 8, between 60 and 66.7% in 7, between 66.7 and 75% in 5, between 75 and 80% in 3 and more than 80% in 5.

In the 171 Romney precinct, Romney won less than 55% in 22, between 55 and 60% in 46, between 60 and 66.7% in 49, between 66.7 and 75% in 47, between 75 and 80% in 4 and more than 80% in 3.

2014-06-16 22:16:00 Rick Shaftan

Thought I explained it. Election Districts were broken out into groups based on the share of the two-party 2012 presidential vote for Romney and Obama. The increase in the Brat 2014 vote over the Bayne 2012 vote was divided into the difference between the 2014 turnout and the 2012 turnout to get a number that represented the increased Brat vote as a percentage of the total new vote. As we all know, Brat ran 26,452 votes above Bayne, and Cantor was 8,468 behind his 2012 total. And the analysis described above indicates that the biggest drop for Cantor was in the most Republican of precincts.

2014-06-16 22:13:00 Rick Shaftan

Warner is beatable and if he’s under 50 in a poll in September the nominee will have all the money they could ever spend whoever it is and regardless of how many points that person may be behind.

2014-06-05 17:18:00 Rick Shaftan

There was nothing EW said that wasn’t known before the convention and the top of the ticket had said things even much more controversial than the most edgy EW Jackson quote. There was just a decision by some “strategist” in the Cuccinelli campaign to throw EW overboard in an attempt to “moderate” Ken’s image and make him look more like Bill Bolling.

2014-06-05 17:17:00 Rick Shaftan

Not according to the RINOs. It means that a conservative can never attack a “moderate” on anything or even mention their name but that a “moderate” can and should attack a conservative over anything and everything.

2014-04-06 17:05:00 Rick Shaftan

It’s not “Reagan’s Eleventh Commandment” although he “followed” it until he lost four primaries to Gerald Ford. But then he went to North Carolina where Jesse Helms read him the facts of life. Reagan went negative on Ford over Detente and the Panama Canal. After that he won nearly every single primary and the rest is history. But if Reagan had ignored that silly “rule” he’d have won New Hampshire and Jimmy Carter would be the answer to a trivia question today instead of an ex-president.

2014-04-06 15:41:00 Rick Shaftan

So Hill got 30% of the vote after urging his people to boycott the event?

2014-03-22 20:07:00 Rick Shaftan

The redistricting serves an important role of packing as many Democrats as possible into three Congressional Districts.

Virginia politics covered from a conservative perspective. News and commentary about Republicans, Democrats, the Virginia General Assembly, Virginia\'s

Comment Date Name Link

This is pretty typical of the “moderate” RINO scum who hate conservatives more than they want to beat Democrats. That explains why your state has Ralph Northam, Tim Kaine and Mark Warner. It also explains why my state has Roy Cooper.

2018-04-18 16:13:00 Rick Shaftan

Ed was the nominee and the man whose lack of message led to those defeats. Had Corey been the nominee, there would have been a clear message and Republicans would have been much stronger in legislative races and competitive if not victorious in the Governor’s contest. Instead, candidates had to grab onto Jello.

2018-02-06 19:47:00 Rick Shaftan

Maybe, just maybe, people are moving on.

2018-02-06 19:46:00 Rick Shaftan

You should get out and get behind Corey.

2018-01-10 13:41:00 Rick Shaftan

Stewart’s county taxes are below inflation and is one of the best taxpayer records in the entire state. There’s a reason he’s won five elections in a blue county Clinton won by 21 despite (or maybe because of) his conservative record. There’s a reason he whipped #EunuchEd by better than 2-1 in PWC despite losing Northern Virginia. None of his opponents have ever run and won a competitive election. None.

2018-01-10 13:41:00 Rick Shaftan

What EW should be called out on is his silly kook claim that Catholic Corey Stewart is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

2017-12-15 23:59:00 Rick Shaftan

I’m not a Jackson supporter, but it’s this kind of snob elitism that elected Ralph Northam. Some people mock others for their faith and then complain about “tolerance.” Then they wonder why these “rednecks” don’t come out for their shit candidates and celebrate when neo-Communists like Doug Jones become the 49th Democratic Senator.

2017-12-15 23:53:00 Rick Shaftan

No. It prohibits cities from forcing these policies on businesses and schools. There is not now and has never been a law in NC that prevents a business owner from letting a tranny male use the Ladies Room.

2017-10-03 16:00:00 Rick Shaftan

This bill was about a government mandate on all schools, businesses and other public facilities. That Ed is ok with this explains why he is losing. He should have dropped out after his pathetic showing in the primary. The only thing he’s got going for him is Ralph Northam.

2017-10-03 13:55:00 Rick Shaftan

This is a typical comment from an ignorant fool who has no idea what the bill did. HB2 prohibited Charlotte and other Blue Cities from mandating all businesses and schools let anyone use whatever bathroom they wanted. Of course, the “conservatives” on this site are fine with local action restricting individual freedom, because that’s “home rule.”

This silly obsession with “home rule” explains why Ed has no coherent philosophy, message or reason why any Republican should come out and vote for him, unless they are looking to get on the payroll or juice up their lobbying gig.

Ed claims to oppose Sanctuary Cities. But does he really? Doesn’t that conflict with “home rule”?

2017-10-03 13:54:00 Rick Shaftan

He told the 155,000 people who voted for Corey Stewart to stay home, as he does every single day.

2017-10-02 22:54:00 Rick Shaftan

North Carolina has a big surplus and is cutting taxes. Your state is bankrupt and raising taxes. The only reason McCrory lost was he refused to defend HB2. The LG who was its biggest supporter won by 8. The GOP now has a 74-46 House edge and 35-15 in the Senate after Democratic legislative candidates made HB2 the number one issue in their races. But at least no one will call #EunuchEd a bigot when he goes back to lobbying after his November defeat. Hopefully he doesn’t cost the GOP the HOD.

2017-10-02 22:53:00 Rick Shaftan

Ed’s a real winner. That’s why every story about him mentions Corey.

2017-07-10 21:29:00 Rick Shaftan

Can’t wait til November to start raising money. Republicans like someone who plays to win. That’s one of Corey’s biggest strengths. Ed should learn from him and might even get some people excited about his candidacy other than those looking for a job, a government contract or a lobbying deal.

2017-07-10 20:35:00 Rick Shaftan

What “lies”?

2017-07-01 19:55:00 Rick Shaftan

None of you understand why Ed, despite massively outspending Stewart, barely won a race he should have put away months ago.

Ed’s problem is he’s afraid to offend anyone. If that changes, maybe voters will consider him. White bread and mayo doesn’t cut it anymore.

2017-07-01 15:02:00 Rick Shaftan

Stewart’s county taxes are below inflation and the lowest in Northern Virginia, as opposed to those “Republicans” who passed Virginia’s biggest tax hike(s) and whose “tax cut” proposals no one takes seriously.

2017-07-01 15:00:00 Rick Shaftan

Ed needs to give people a reason to vote for him. If he’s so weak that he needs Corey to front for him he’s going to lose anyway, which everyone reading this knows will happen.

2017-07-01 11:57:00 Rick Shaftan

But he won the county better than 2-1 which says something about the people you know.

2017-07-01 11:56:00 Rick Shaftan

If Stewart runs he will be unopposed for the nomination regardless of what happens on Saturday or in November.

2017-06-23 09:09:00 Rick Shaftan

Here is an example of someone who belongs in the other party. Another snob who hates conservatives more than he wants to beat Democrats.

2017-06-20 10:46:00 Rick Shaftan

What’s a lie?

2017-02-05 17:27:00 Rick Shaftan

Ask Bob Marshall what he thinks of those exceptions, or for that matter Ed’s supporter Dick Black.

2017-02-05 17:26:00 Rick Shaftan

Every single real pro-lifer knows I am right.

2017-02-05 15:02:00 Rick Shaftan

His position covers none and everyone knows it. Not only does it accept the premise that some late-term abortions are ok, but anyone who wants one of these late-term abortions Ed’s loopholes allow just has to say it’s true. It’s not like they’re signing a statement under penalty of perjury.

So do you think someone would lie about a rape in order to get a late-term abortion? Nah. That’d never happen.

2017-02-05 15:02:00 Rick Shaftan

Except when you need an excuse for a late-term abortion. Then it’s 100%.

2017-02-05 13:41:00 Rick Shaftan

With some new Supreme Court Justices over the next few years, perhaps it’s time to push legislation that will actually stop abortions, as opposed to Ed’s silly bill that will not stop even one.

2017-02-05 13:41:00 Rick Shaftan

If a woman who is eight months pregnant says she was raped or says the father is a close relative, Ed thinks it’s ok that she have a partial-birth abortion. That’s a fact.

2017-02-04 17:39:00 Rick Shaftan

There is no practical difference between Gillespie’s abortion position and McAuliffe’s.

2017-02-04 16:55:00 Rick Shaftan

Lame excuse. If he cared, he’d fight. Instead he says he will only sign a bill that does nothing. #ProAbort

2017-02-04 14:51:00 Rick Shaftan

A lot more than that and you know it.

2017-02-04 04:11:00 Rick Shaftan

Ed does, however, support abortion up to the moment of birth if the right excuse is given. I think we can all agree on that fact.

2017-02-04 03:26:00 Rick Shaftan

No, it’s just idiotic policy. People should be able to hire whoever they want, and if you don’t like who gets hired, vote for people who won’t hire campaign contributors.

2017-01-24 20:44:00 Rick Shaftan

Only if you believe that government should have the power to dictate how those who get government contracts spend their money. If you don’t like who vendors give to, don’t vote for those candidates.

2017-01-24 18:40:00 Rick Shaftan

Especially if state contracts are used to stifle individual freedom. It’s hard to see any conservative wanting to use government’s power to restrict speech in this way. That’s the kind of “ethics reform” you see in liberal blue states like the one I escaped.

2017-01-24 15:39:00 Rick Shaftan

He is, however, uniting the Republican Party.

2016-05-14 04:56:00 Rick Shaftan

Who cares?

2015-08-11 23:05:00 Rick Shaftan

Actually, Virginia is the next New Jersey, and you should look at these returns and realize several things 1) your taxes will continue to go up 2) you will get Medicaid Expansion and Common Core 3) the GOP will lose the State Senate this Fall 4) more and more productive high income people will move out and people like me will choose North Carolina instead. My advice: sell now while your home is still worth something.

2015-06-10 16:52:00 Rick Shaftan

Swaps out white liberals for blacks, and moves Republicans into weak seats.

2015-06-06 03:15:00 Rick Shaftan

The GOP should move this plan. https://m.facebook.com/rickshaftannj/photos/pb.296747537150495.-2207520000.1433560132./429141287244452/?type=1&source=42

2015-06-06 03:14:00 Rick Shaftan

Shaun continues to repeat the Ray Allen-John McLaughlin lie that Democrats defeated Cantor when a mathematical analysis indicates the opposite is true. http://thebullelephant.com/defeated-cantor/

2015-05-25 16:46:00 Rick Shaftan

This is one of the most confusing pieces I’ve read in a while. No one will get through this.

2015-04-20 03:42:00 Rick Shaftan

About time someone wrote this.

2014-09-12 03:00:00 Rick Shaftan

That has always been the case.

2014-04-30 01:27:00 Rick Shaftan

This article effectively illustrates the mindset of those who hate conservatives more than they want to beat Democrats.

2014-02-14 15:00:00 Rick Shaftan

Which “way” was Bill DiBlasio’s wife born?

2014-02-14 14:59:00 Rick Shaftan

What this is really about is stopping conservatives, not Democrats.

2013-12-15 17:15:00 Rick Shaftan

All 50 states allow unrestricted abortions up to and including the moment of birth because they cannot ban them under Roe. People who support Roe endorse abortion up til birth, many enthusiastically, such as some posting above. There are no cases where any judge has ever stopped any abortion in 40 years. Not one.

2013-12-08 21:29:00 Rick Shaftan

No judge anywhere can prohibit any abortion at any time up to and including the moment of birth for any reason at all, thanks to Roe. Perhaps Jay knows of ONE case in forty years showing otherwise. On to the next topic.

2013-11-19 03:36:00 Rick Shaftan

Roe v Wade allows unrestricted abortions for any reason up to and including the day of delivery. There has yet to be any abortion that has ever been stopped by any judge anywhere in America because of any mythical “restriction” in the Roe decision. That is because Roe allows for abortions up to the moment of birth if the “health of the mother could be threatened.” That means anything and everything. People who support Roe support unrestricted abortion up to and including the moment of birth for any reason at all. That’s a fact.

2013-11-15 15:53:00 Rick Shaftan

Appreciate the plug, but I was not the architect of any of Ken’s victories. Ken’s wins were because of Ken, not me. I gave some advice. He followed some and didn’t follow some. It goes without saying that the Ken we all saw in 2013 was not the Ken Cuccinelli of 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2009.

2013-11-14 20:42:00 Rick Shaftan

The New Jersey Governor has powers the Virginia Governor can dream of, besides the ability to run for a second term the Governor also appoints the members of every state board, every judge and every prosecutor. That sure helps when you’re going to win anyway and want Democrats to endorse you. And the other difference is that New Jersey is an economic basket case, unlike Virginia, so that even Democrats were ready to tinker around the edges of the public employee welfare state (which is about all that has happened).

2013-11-14 14:12:00 Rick Shaftan

And I forgot to talk about the multiple positions on the tax increase…

2013-11-13 18:36:00 Rick Shaftan

Terry McAuliffe ran as a leftist. It wasn’t a problem for him because he was never called on it. Not once.

2013-11-13 16:46:00 Rick Shaftan

Why TV ads should be 30 seconds, because this one starts falling off badly after that point — even forgetting the typo.

2013-11-08 22:36:00 Rick Shaftan

Excellent analysis.

2013-11-08 22:33:00 Rick Shaftan

Christie is your choice if you’re looking for someone to the left of Jon Huntsman.

Even after #Berkeley, you cannot condemn these violent thugs, who should have been condemned when they shot Steve Scalise.

2017-08-28 21:23:00 Rick Shaftan

Or if.

2017-08-28 21:21:00 Rick Shaftan

It’ll be interesting to see when the left condemns the violent Antifa and BLM thugs.

2017-08-28 21:21:00 Rick Shaftan

They are voting their economic interests. That’s why they voted overwhelmingly for Trump. You rich sophisticated urbanites don’t understand that. You think everyone wants to be as miserable as you are.

2017-07-17 02:49:00 Rick Shaftan

This condescending attitude thinking these folks are voting against their own interests explains why your party is dying everywhere in America that isn’t an overcrowded city or a majority black area. None of you understand why Trump won, and you never will.

Like the two geniuses we ran in 2008 and 2012, or the kooks who drove the message in 2010 and 2014?

After 9. After 7 is ridiculously idiotic.

Wait til the indictments come down. Wildstein is one of those OCD types who makes notes of everything and probably tapes all his calls. This is nothing compared to what will hit the fan early next year.

The problem here are election laws that make it virtually impossible for a Third Party to compete on a level besides the top of the ticket, and the biggest problem is a lack of candidates and worse a lack of candidates who are willing to run a campaign that can win.

Mayor Sokolich was the Fort Lee GOP municipal chairman in the late 1990s.

We already have a President who supports both. Are you saying that to win in 2016, Republicans need to embrace the Obama Agenda? 2014-12-03T14:56:57-05:00 rickshaftan

Since you already know the answer, tell us all how you would “abolish corporations” and how come your president hasn’t done that yet?

John Fund is a fool. No one flyer turns anything. It was a coordinated grassroots effort that was not used by McDaniel to fire up his base. There was a barrage of radio ads and robocalls to the community along with lots of cash and no one fired back. 2014-06-25T13:02:00-05:00 Rick Shaftan

I have no idea why I was quoted in this nor would I have any idea whether or not Joe Sobran was Catholic. Who is this writer anyway and where did he get my name? I saw him speak once at a dinner. He was entertaining. I can't remember what he spoke about.

Whoever wrote this clearly has me confused with someone else. I seriously doubt there'll be a correction.
