The problem, Mr. Burka, is that squishy moderates do not really stand for anything at all. What will they run on? We are over spending, over taxing, and loosing liberties every single day. The only way to compromise (which they love to talk about as a good thing) is with the liberal democrats. You can’t win a GOP primary on that platform.

People like to say they are moderate because they do not want to offend the person asking the question. The truth is most Texans have core principles they are not willing to negotiate on. The moderates have none and inspire no one. That is why they will continue to lose elections.
